A vision carried with purpose

The vision for Gate Beautiful began after I gave my life to Jesus Christ in 2000. Becoming a Christian gave me a new understanding of my value and purpose. It also helped me make sense of my experiences and the opportunities God had given me.
Having experienced situational poverty myself, I understood how difficult it can be to move forward when opportunities are limited. Like many young people in Zambia, I completed secondary school without knowing what would come next. God placed people in my life who encouraged me, guided me and opened doors. Through their support, I came to understand the value of education, skills development and work as a pathway out of poverty. I also learnt how much it matters to have someone hold your hand when you need it most.
The story of the man at the Beautiful Gate in Acts 3 captures this for me. Peter and John did not only meet his immediate need. In the name of Jesus Christ, they took him by the hand and helped him to his feet. He was able to rise, walk and begin a different life.
This is what lies behind Gate Beautiful. We want to offer that hand to young women who have ability and potential but limited opportunities. With Christ as our anchor, we provide professional childcare training, personal development and support into employment. The aim is dignified work for young women and better-prepared nannies for families.
Meet our founder
Founder and Lead Trainer
Gwanire’s background includes social work with children and families in the UK. In Ndola, she has supported young people through her leadership of Student Life at Northrise University and as CEO of Mechanics for Africa, helping students build skills and prepare for employment.

The need
In many Zambian homes, the care of young children is entrusted to nannies and domestic workers who have had little or no childcare training. At the same time, many young women need practical skills that can lead to employment.
Our response
Gate Beautiful brings these needs together. We equip young women with professional childcare skills that can open a pathway to dignified work, while helping families find nannies who are better prepared to care for children responsibly and support their development.
