Before entering a family home, each nanny completes three months of classroom-based and practical training. This follows a three-month supported placement, with ongoing learning and support from Gate Beautiful.
Trust is built carefully
We look for young women who are interested in working with children, willing to learn and able to work responsibly within a family home.
Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and be able to read, write and speak English. Each trainee's readiness and suitability are reviewed before she is introduced to a family.
How It Works
A clear, personal process that helps both the family and nanny make an informed decision.
Every prospective employer attends our required half-day Parent Workshop in Ndola. You will learn how Gate Beautiful nannies are prepared, what the placement involves and how to create a respectful and successful working relationship.
Complete a short Family Childcare and Matching Profile covering your children, routines, location, working arrangements, childcare responsibilities and the qualities you are looking for in a nanny.
We introduce you to a nanny whose profile appears well matched to your family. You will meet and interview her before making your decision. Both you and the nanny must freely agree to proceed.
Once both parties agree to proceed, we help you put a written employment contract in place covering responsibilities, working hours, salary, rest days, leave and other important terms.
During the first three months, Gate Beautiful provides weekly follow-up and guidance to both the family and nanny. Support may be provided by phone, WhatsApp or an online meeting, helping to identify and address difficulties early.
Through each successful placement, a child receives nurturing care, a family gains dependable support, and a young woman builds skills, confidence and a more secure future.
An important distinction
Child-related household tasks may be agreed as part of the role, but general cleaning and maid duties are separate responsibilities.
